Do I Need To Uninstall The Norton Free Trial Virus Protection To Install Mcafee?

My college just posted the new windows 7 compatible mcafee anti-virus. I have the free trial norton on my computer now. Do I need to uninstall the norton or will mcafee automatically detect and get rid of the norton during installation? Thanks.

Mcafee might detect your Norton install, but it will tell you to uninstall it before continuing.
Running two anti-virus programs at the same time is a bad idea. There is a strong chance that they will clash with each other and do strange, unwanted, and bizarre things to your computer in the process.

Yes! It is never wise to run two anti-virus programs at once. There can be conflicts

Yes, you should always uninstall any anti-virus software if you intend to run another. Otherwise you will get conflicys which means the software will not run as it should and you will be susceptible to infection. Ebola….

Definitely. You should also reboot after uninstalling.
