Is There An Available Antivirus Definition Update For Manual Download?

I’m using Avast! Home Edition v.5 (beta) as my antivirus software. But I can’t find updates where i can download it online (not the “automatic update” option nor the “update definition” button). Please help. Note: Not VPS because I tried to execute it but an error occured saying like “no avast installed”, something like that. So i guess Home Edition has a different definition update. Again, have mercy.

In my experience, Avast! Home performs Automatic Updates flawlessly. But, mine’s NOT BETA!
The only reason for your difficulties, may be that you don’t have the latest “NON-BETA”version. Un-install the BETA and get the last good version.
If, after you do install the latest good version, AND only have ONE Anti-virus app installed (< HINT), your software Firewall App may be blocking Avast, or you may have Malware that Avast can’t even detect, let alone remove.

Generally you can not download the definition file by itself. As companies try to keep their list confidential. And the only way to get updates most of the time is through the auto update through the program. If your Avast is having problem you might want to reinstall it and see if that solves the problem.

Doubtful. Symantec Norton had this (still?). GO TO their site and find or ask at “Contact Us”.
